Hi Oscar1980 and Kelly,
I find your info interesting Kelly... July is considered 'rainy season' in Japan, so the locals would not agree about it being less rainy!! (though, it does seem to be wetter in September).
Almost nothing is stopped here because of rain, take/ get an umbrella (for as little as 200yen at a convenience store) and have a great time!
Temperature-wise... it's sitting high 20's at the moment, comfortable, though as rainy season hits the humidity will rise.
Thanks for your reply - I was referring to the information on the BBC weather Tokyo "average conditions" chart (not for other areas of Japan) but thank you for the Japan Meteorological agency link - this looks great and very useful for any future travellers to Japan.
Regards
Kelly

you're welcome Kelly... yes, Japan Meteorological Agency is good... I never find BBC/ Yahoo/ or many of those other 'general' links very accurate... !!!
Hi oscar1980,
Thanks for your post. July is a good time to go as it will be warm, but not as rainy as other times of year.
See this link for some useful charts and average conditions in Tokyo:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/world/city_guides/results.shtml?tt=TT002500
Here is the one for Nagasaki (as you can see it is wetter there!):

I hope this helps,
Best wishes,
Kelly

The BEST site I find is http://www.jma.go.jp/jma/indexe.html Japan Meterological Agency. It's pretty accurate on the weather forecasts...
ENJOY :-)
