Hi
We are doing this trip on 20th July and have become somewhat spooked by blogs on the Internet which talk about needing to cross ledges which are only 20cm wide with a massive drip to the gorge on one side. This seems extremely dangerous.
However, another site I went on indicated that the blogs are somewhat exaggerated.
What is fact and what is fiction?
Cheers

Tiger Leaping Gorge trek
Hello Roger,
Thanks for your post. Having not done the Tiger Leaping Gorge trek myself I have checked out your question with our Destination Manager and one of our tour leaders out in China.
The paths on this trek are quite narrow, however horses go through these paths so this should give you some idea of the width. Definitely wider than 20cm I would say.
There are certain sections while walking when we do encounter pretty steep falls on one side of the tracks and even walk through waterfalls. A certain amount of care must be taken while walking these paths.
The falls on the side of the paths are not sheer drops, but would be a steep hill.
If you suffer from vertigo then it might be best not to do it as perhaps more than 70 percent of the walk will have a steep fall on one side.
This does not mean you can't stil do the tour, though. It is possible for our travellers to participate in the tour but not do the Tiger Leaping Gorge trek. Contact us or your booking agent for details on this, if you are interested in avoiding the trek.
I hope this helps,
Best wishes
Kelly
Hi
That helps - No problems with Vertigo. I am also sure that tour leaders would not recommend doing things that puts lives at risk.
We will think about it when we are "on the ground" and chat it through with the tour leader at the start of the holiday.
Cheers
Roger
