My daughter and I are gearing up to leave for the Elephant and Adventure tour (Thailand) on September 13th. I have a couple of questions I'm hoping you can help me with ...
1. Anti-Leech Socks. In the trip dossier it suggests we get leech socks. Being from Canada (with snow up to our chins most of the year), leeches aren't such a promblem. Are these socks something we can get once we are there?
2. I'm still waiting for the final documents to be sent from my travel agent, and was wondering how I receive confirmation regarding the airport transfer to the hotel. We will be arriving one day prior to the start of the tour and will be staying at hotel meeting point. Is this something that will be in our documents?
3. I'm ordering Thai Bhat through my bank and was hoping you could suggest the best demonination to bring. I understand that the higher bills might be difficult to break.
I thank you for your time, and look forward to your response. The next four weeks can't go fast enough !!!!!

Replies to Elephants and Adventure questions
Hello Terri & Maki
Thanks for your post and the questions. I'll go through them one at a time...
1) Leech socks can be bought once on tour. On my trip the tour leader did a hand count of how many wanted them (which was all of us!) and then bought them for us. They were 80 baht per pair (just over £1) and it was money well spent as we found lots of leeches on them during the trek, trying to wriggle their way up our legs and over the top of the socks. You have to keep checking each time you stop.
2) I checked your booking and we have an arrival transfer booked for you. On arrival at the airport once you have collected your luggage and head out into the Arrivals area you just need to look out for the rep and they will take you to the hotel.
3) It is best keep to lower denominations if you can, but if you end up with some higher then you will be able to change them in the bigger shops and restaurants. I had a mixture of 500s and 1000s at the start of the tour, and througout the tour maintained a mixture of lower notes as well, such as 20s, 50s and 100s. I didn't find it a problem.
I hope this helps but let me know if you think of anything else!
Best Regards
Kelly
