The recommended kit for Nepal includes a down jacket and sleeping bag. The tour info mentions that these things can be hired. Can they also be bought? Are the prices likely to be reasonable?

Thanks

Kit

Hello

I have actually completed the Everest Basecamp trek and can would recommend a down-filled jacket, and DEFINATELY down-filled sleeping bag. I brought my own, but they can be bought or rented very easily when you arrive in Kathmandu. However, do your best to find the more authentic versions. Copies are fine, but seams must always be strong and the feather filling must not be bunched up anywhere. If the odd feathers are leaking this is absolutely fine, but if lots are coming out then don't bother with them.

Happy shopping!
