Not sure what cash to take on trip to Egypt in Oct. Are there many ATM's available and what towns.? How much should we take in small notes to cover tipping or would we be better getting the money when we reached Cairo? Would travellers cheque be better?

Re: Money

Hi,

USD or Sterling Traveller Cheques are the best option for Egypt, and TQ are the safest way to carry money on holiday.

ATMs are available in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan & Hurghada. However, while this facility is available you should not reply on it as many are out of order.

You can exchange money for Egyptian pounds before you arrive, but the rate will be lower than in Egypt. It is always best to have some local currency on your person when you arrive. If not, on arrival in Cairo you can use the exchange facilities before the immigration hall.

Small notes are essential and when exchanging money ask for 50pts notes (Half pound)and one pound notes. Your Tour Leader can advise you on the nearest exchanges to you at any point in the tour.

Cheers
