Hi there
We're with your trip to Bolivia and Chile starting soon and I'm a bit concerned about money. I've just been in to Thomas Cook and have been told they advise US dollar travellers cheques for Bolivia but US dollars cash for Chile. We are doing an add on to Easter Island after Chile and don't want to have to carry large amounts of cash around. Is this true?
I'm also wondering about clothing as we will be in hot and cooler areas but don't want to overload. What do you advise for jumpers and coats?
Many thanks
Nikki

Hey Nikkij

Thanks for your post

You lucky thing - Chile is my most favorite country it is beautiful particularly in North Patagonia.

When I travelled there I was able to use ATM's everywhere but I find that it is always a good idea to take some US$ or GBP£ as a back up. You can certainly use cards in resteraunts etc.

Travellers cheques can be tricky to change and I tend not to use them.

I would take lots of layers with you as the climate can change very quickly in South America. A fleece is always a good idea as is a waterproof mac.

I hope that this helps.
