1) I'm thinking of taking the 7/11-7/17 trip from Bangkok to Saigon and was wondering if any other fellow travelers are scheduled for that trip?
2) I'm looking to eventually make it back to Bangkok on my own after this tour ends to stay for another week or so and was wondering the most effective way of doing so? (Especially considering I'd be flying out of Bangkok anyway)
3) Also I wanted to see if this was the right trip for me, a solo traveling late 20's male artistic/athletic type looking for a good mix of activity, adventure and reflection time. All suggestions are helpful...
thanks

Re: Is this the right trip for me 11-07-2008 - 17-07-2008 Bangko
Hi,
1) There are 4 other people booked onto this tour (2 couples) aged late 20's early 30's. This is a very popular tour with 20-30's so there should be a few more people book onto this one.
2) The easiest way to get back to Bangkok would be a flight, you can get some quite cheap flights local the local budget airlines. You could also train it back up to Bangkok - take a look at Seat61.com for train details.
3) As mentioned this is a popular tour for 20-30 year olds. It attracts a lot of 'back-packer' types who fit this into their round the world trips. It's a fun tour with plenty of time for
activities and adventure.
hope this helps

Hi Scott
Think you have chosen a really great trip. It will fulfil all of third part of your questions.
Unfortunately, you might be a bit misled by the response on returning to Bangkok from Saigon. No worries with the air travel, but there is no train service between these 2 cities. If you returned overland, you would just be retracing the trip you have undertaken using similar transport - not all bad if you wanted to revisit Cambodia.
Enjoy yourself and hope this is helpful

Thank you both for your comments and advice. They were very helpful. As soon as I purchase my flight I am gonna go head and book this.
What if I elected to go north instead and visit Laos before heading back to Thailand and then back to Bangkok...is there any cost effective/worthwhile route for such a trip.
Also, anyone else who signs up for this trip let me know. Enjoy spring.

Re: Is this the right trip for me 11-07-2008 - 17-07-2008 Bangko
Hi again Scott
Not sure if you have booked anything yet or how much time you have. When we did our travel last year we stayed on in Saigon for a couple of nights then flew to Hanoi. From there we joined the Hanoi to Bangkok trip through Laos - how great was that. It saved trekking all the way back to Bangkok and we got to spend a bit more time in Saigon with so much to see and do especially lots of short day trips around the area.
The Laos trip joined onto the Journey through Laos trip on about day 3 or 4. We got to cross into Lao from Vietnam in a rarely travelled part of the world. We also got to stay in Mai Chau in Vietnam for the night which was a really beautiful place.
The only thing about starting in Hanoi is that you don't get to go to Vietniane and Vang Vieng, but you could always go back for another trip.
Hope this info is also helpful. We stayed in Saigon and Hanoi in the Im Trav hotels and both we of a good standard and in great locations.
Cheers
Louise
