During the 4 day trek in the Sinai (part of the beyond the pyramids tour) in early june what footwear do you advise. I have a good comfortable pair of desert boots with good arch support but not much ankle support. Or I have a great pair of hiking boots but they are gortex lined and water proofed and might be way too hot and are a little big and heavy to pack around for the rest of the trip.
I was also wondering how much water will we need to carry for ourselves on this trek, will one 1L water bottle be enough or should I bring a couple?
Thanks
Christine

Re: Sinai - footwear and water
Hi Christine,
FOOTWEAR:
Desert boots are probably the best option as they are designed for the terrain and the climate. During the trek there is much walking in Wadi's (dried riverbeds) and while there's not too much hardbase trekking it may be worth bringing a lighter pair of trainers to change when required.
When you are on the trip the Tour Leader will advise on water consumption as this depends on the weather at the time. There will be an opportunity to arrange an order of bottled water before the trek begins. The camels will carry this supply.
On average we recommend that travellers in summer months drink no less than two-liter
