I'll be on the SLKW tour on Sept 18th. Apart from the usual stuff, will I need to pack the following: a towel, sleeping sheet, light fleece, rain jacket? Are there any cultural or religious sensitivities to women wearing shorts on this trip? Appreciate any tips. Thanks.
Audrey

Re: SLKW - Luggage Req.
Hi Audrey,
A sheet sleeping bag will come in useful for the overnight train journeys in China - they do provide sheets but not always of optimum cleanliness.
A towell isn't necessary as all the hotels provide these - if you want a face towell for the train you can buy these very cheaply at all railway stations here.
A light fleece and rain jacket will both come in useful - your visit is outside the rainy season but the weather conditions can be a little unpredictable. Also you may find that it is beginning to get a bit chilly, particularly in the evenings or when staying up in the mountains in Pakistan, so bring a few layers.
Lastly, it is important to dress modestly in Pakistan and, to a lesser extent, in West China. In Pakistan, at any rate, you will need to have your legs and arms covered (not your head), in reasonably baggy clothing.
Have a great trip !
