Hi! I'm hoping to book up for the Follucca Journey very soon and as I'm going to be on a fairly tight budget, I was wondering if anyone could tell me the average day-to-day expenses for this type of trip?
I don't see myself picking up loads of souvenirs but I would like to know the cost of meals and drinks. Thanks

Re: spending money
Hi Denise,
This is always a question many travellers ask, and no matter what we advise, travellers return saying either we recomended too little or too much to budget.
The variety of restaurant standards vary from a good local meal at $4.00 to the tourist restaurant at $10.00.
Here's a run down of costs on average that one would expect to pay on an average day..
Soft Drinks-
On the street approx $0.50
In a hotel -$1.50
Restaurant- from $1-1.50
Light meal - $3.00 to $4.00
Lunch - From $5.00 to $10.00
Dinner - Anything from $5.00 to $10.00
Local Beer costs $2.50 a bottle (not cheap!)
Spirits are OVERPRICED at all hotels. $15.00 for a Bacardi & Coke!!!
Entrance Fees to most sites - $7.00
Optional King Tuts Tomb visit - $13.00
Nefertari's tomb - $33.00
The only complaint that travellers have when on a budget is that there are TOO many other sites to visit and things to do in their free time. And if you want to visit another ancient site not on the tour you have to pay, so the complaint is usually this,
"we visited many optional sites on our tour and we found it very expensive, they should be included in the tour cost"
If this was to happen the cost of the tour would be too expensive for the budget traveller.
Stick to the itinerary on the Felucca Journey, budget for your meals and your drinks and over budget this portion as the group may be a little wild and want to party every now and then.
Don't visit every site in every town, choose some. The major sites are in the itinerary.
Hope this helps a little
Cheers
