We want to see Central Europe - Czech Replublic, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland.
Has any of the multitude of travellers and/or tour leaders been there recently?
If so, I would like your thoughts. Really looking forward to the train travel.
Many thanks,

Re: Travellers - Has anyone been with IT to Central Europe?
Not with ImTrav - but if you have any particular questions I can try to answer them. If I went back, I would go with ImTrav so I didn't have the hassle of organising everything (which ate up a lot of my time, both before leaving and once there).

Re: Travellers - Has anyone been with IT to Central Europe?
Thanks for your reply -- I have searched the various major cities - Budapest, Prague and Krakow and don't see a problem getting around. We have booked the Central Europe trip for June (and hope it's a go) but was wondering if you did use the trains how you found them.
We have one traveller who doesn't do well in vehicles (needs to stop every hour or so) and that's why we booked this trip as on the train we think will enable him to get up and wander about.
Did you make it to Slovakia to the High Tatras? He is also concerned about wearing hiking boots or good sport type runners with a good hiking tread. He is more of a sneaker and blue jean kind of guy. We believe the trails in the Tatras will be somewhat like our hiking trails at Whistler, BC (ski runs in the summer and pretty rocky) - not "groomed" trails.
Any info would be of great help. Thanks!
Re: Travellers - Has anyone been with IT to Central Europe?
I have train envy for Europe and Central Europe. The worst trains are still miles better than our intercity trains here in Australia. Train travel is a well oiled machine there - they are clean, run on time, modern and well serviced. Trains are a great way to catch up on writing, sleeping or playing board games - magnetic of course. I get incredibly car sick but did not get train sick at all. You are right about getting up and walking around - there is a lot more space and you can do stretches at each end by the doors/toilets. Sounds crazy - but taichi on the train is really good.
I did go to the Tartas, but I don't recall the treks are being particulary difficult or rough. Teva shoes (not sandles) or similars would be fine for your friend who doesn't like hiking boots. Rather than jeans I would suggest pants with zips.
Have a brilliant time.

Has an ImTrav person NOT been to Central Europe? Can't believe that no one with your company has NOT been there!
Most travel agencies have a policy to ensure that their agents travel to locations that you promote.
Could a travel agent respond?

THANK YOU SARA,
Nice to know that ImTrav does make some of their agents do the trips to chat up the clients!
Good advice on the shoes.
