Just watching the news this morning, and saw that (sometimes violient) protestors had all but closed down the Bangkok airport and some areas of the city. What's the news from your end? We are supposed to head there next week, and are quite concerned....

Situation in Thailand
Hi Kathy,
Thank you for your post on the forums. We have received notification that the international airport at Bangkok has been closed for the moment due to the large number of protesters. We do not know how long this is likely to last however we are hoping things will change again soon.
Anyone scheduled to arrive in Bangkok within the next few days should contact their airline to find out what, if any, plans they have in place to deal with this.
Anyone due to arrive in Bangkok next week should keep an eye on the news reports and our updates, and hopefully by the time you travel the airport will be open again.
There have been no further reports of violence in the area that we stay in. We have been advised that the explosions in Banglamphu (where we stay) were quite minor, and happened in the very early hours of the morning when few people were about, and were aimed at police posts rather than tourists.
We will keep you informed of any further developments as soon as we can.
Regards
Kelly
Any updates on Thailand?
Hello
Is there any change to the SAHI tour at this point in time? Change of meeting place or tour diversion?
Thanks
Kathy
Thailand tours departing this week
Dear Kathy
Thank you for your post. We are still running all our Thailand tours, so please don't worry about that. Lots of our travellers are already in Thailand or South East Asia, or are coming overland, and we won't be disappointing those people.
Anyone due to fly into Bangkok this weekend should contact their airline or travel agent to see what plans the airline has made to deal with the current airport closure. Thai Airways, for example, have arranged for their flights from London to go into an alternative airport nearby and transfer by land to Bangkok.
Some people may be able to join overland from Kuala Lumpur or other regional hubs (which we would be able to assist with) and some people may be able to join their tour in Chiang Mai, depending on the itinerary.
Anyone due to travel this weekend should contact us or their travel agent for the latest information relating to their tour. If you are travelling after this weekend please note we will be considering these tours later this week.
Best Regards
Kelly
