I am wondering can Imaginative Travel tell how many are going on this tour starting in Beijing on 15 Sept and finishing in Guangzhou on 30 Sept?

Thanks Kate - can you tell me the number of males & females among the 12 booked? As I am travelling alone I am interested in this ratio as far as sharing etc. Getting very excited now!! Thank you.

Oh, Kate, I meant to ask you...
I arrive at 7.20 AM on 16th so what is plan for that day??
The travel info. dossiers etc say we will meet our tour leader on 1st evening - I am a bit confused now!!
Thanks again.

Re: VAGP Panda Volunteer Tour leaving 15 Sept 07

Hi Deb,
There are 9 females and 3 males on your tour and theres a wide age range!
When you land at the airport you'll be met by a representative who will take you to your hotel for the first day. You'll then have the day to settle and chill-out (even sleep for a bit) and then you'll prob meet the tour leader once everyone has had a chance to arrive in the evening!

Hope this helps you out. have a great trip!

Hi Deb

Tristan from Imtrav here.
In answer to your question, if you make your way to your hotel in the morning, which you will be sharing with other members of your group, you will be given a message by the receptionist when you check in, or perhaps have a letter posted under your door which will give you an exact time for you to meet your tour leader in the lobby or hotel bar. As you are arriving so early, when you get to your hotel it is likely that your room wont be ready yet. However you should have no problems leaving your luggage with the hotel until around mid day when your room will be ready and waiting. This should give you a good opportunity to explore Beijing and perhaps grab a bite to eat!

I hope this has helped answer your questions

Dear Nathan & Tristan
Thanks for replying to me. I hope Nathan is right and I WILL be met by Imtrav rep as I have been told by my travel agent here in Australia.
I don't usually sleep on planes so after 15 or so hours I wonder would the hotel let me curl up in a chair in the lobby for a rest - I have not travelled on my own very much and would be a bit nervous to go wandering around Beijing on my own in a half sleep. Once I have my bearings I might feel ok to explore. Please confirm I will be met even at 7.20am on 16th. I have mobile phone numbers on Imtrav. vouchersfor 2 reps who are supposed to meet us. Thanks very much.

Hi Deb

One of the lovely things about travelling with a tour group is that they take care of the logistics. So please don't worry, they will meet you at the airport. And Beijing is very easy to get around. If you're not feeling up to a big adventure, try walking aorund the area near your hotel. It's sure to be filled with wonderous sights, smells and tastes. [Smile]

About sleeping on planes .... like you, I'd never been able to until a couple of years ago when a friend convinced me to invest in a set of noise reduction headphones. They're not cheap but very worthwhile. They work by emitting a "white noise" that blocks out the low drone of the aircraft engines. Our brains aren't wired to cope with that low drone and it's what makes us so tired. Once I had the headphones on, I slept like a baby. They come with a couple of different plugs so they can be used with the in-flight entertainment system or an MP3 player.

Just a thought.

Hope you have a great holiday

Hi Debbie,

We've checked your booking on our system and please don't worry you DO have a transfer booked so you will be met at the airport!

The advice that Kaye has posted sounds like a good idea.....i can't sleep on planes either so i might look into getting me a set of those headphones!

Hope you have a great trip!

[Smile] Dear Kaye & Tristan
I feel much reassured now! I will have a look at the earphones too Kaye - thanks for that advice. I have heard from a pal and have been given so little explorations very close to the Tiantan Sports Hotel which she tells me are quite safe so feel heaps more confident now.
Thank you & I am very excited and rearing to go!
