Anyone been on this trip?
1 - I just read that we need sleeping bags. How many days do we need them on the trip? Do most people bring them or rent? I am in Argentina 5 days before and 5 after, so would like to bring as little as possible.
2 - What clothing will we need? Since its the and of Oct, Should I bring a parka? How cold will it get? I am afraid that since I will be in Buenos Aires, Patagonia and Bariloche, I will need alot of different "outer-garments". Any other suggestions about clothing?

Re: Wild Patagonia
I would be keen to hear from Imtrav about question 1 re sleeping bags. Fingers crossed that numbers are sufficient but I too am booked on Wild Patagonia Trip (17 Dec departure).
Same goes for Hola Peru trip. Assume sleeping bag is needed for Lares Trek section?
Looking keenly forward to response.
Re: Wild Patagonia
Hello guys!
Thanks for your enquiry:
The Wild Patagonia tour departing on the 17th December is a guaranteed departure, there are 7 people booked.
You will also need a sleeping bag. These can also be hired locally at the cost of approximately US$12 per night.
I would take clothing that you can layer up such as fleeces as it can get very chilly at night.
I hope that this helps!

Re: Wild Patagonia
Can you tell me how many days we will need a sleeping bag for Wild Patagonia. (I believe it is 6, which I did not realize from the trip dossier- this is 1/2 of the trip!!) I would think that for an extra $24/room, we could stay at a better hotel with a real bed, no? I dont mean to sound obnoxious, but I see that there are now some nice places in El Calafate and El Chalten that are not that expensive.
I know sleeping bags CAN be rented, but what do most people do? What have people done in the past? That was the question I posted on the forum.
Since I am going on the first trip of the season, Oct 22, I imagine it will be cold in Patagonia. Is there a way to get some idea of the temperature? Even layering in the mountains in spring is not that helpful, considering I hear it is very windy. I was wondering if a parka would be advised.
I am not a big worrier, but compared to a trip I took last year on another tour operator, you dont give much info on what to bring. On both the sleeping bag and parka issue, I was hoping someone might be able to give answers from experience, not just generalized advice. Thanks
Re: Wild Patagonia
Hi HappyH.
A sleeping bag is required for the tour and you can either bring your own or hire one locally. It's an entirely personal choice as to whether you take your own sleeping bag or not. However we cannot gaurantee the condition of the ones rented locally.
Follow this link to find out the weather at that time of year. http://www.worldweather.org/s_america.htm
Layering is probably the best option, maybe taking a fleece and a light rain jacket maybe more practical then a just packing a heavier jacket.
Hope this helps
