I was wondering if anyone has taken the Wild Turkey tour during the month of July? I want to know how much walking was required and if the intensity of the summer heat affected the treks. Is it manageable for people of average fitness levels?

Re: Wild Turkey in July
Dear cwuerch,
Thank you for your post. I went on this tour in 2004 and had a great time.
The walking is not too strenuous. The first day of trekking is all uphill but is a slow gradient and is mostly on fire roads so they are quite level and easy to walk on.
The second day is mostly downhill towards the coast and anyone of average fitness levels would be able to do it.
With regards to going in July - you would need to be prepared for the heat as it will be very warm. On the trekking you'll need to carry at least 3 litres of water per day (don't worry, you don't need to carry both days' worth together - you can buy water at the overnight stop!).
When I did this tour it was late September and the weather was pretty warm then, so you should be confident that you will not be too bothered by the heat if you are going in July.
I hope this helps but if you have more questions about this tour please don't hesitate to contact me either here on the forums or on kelly@imtrav.net.
Thanks!
