Elephants and Adventure Question

We are leaving in this trip in two weeks. On Day 15 of the Trip Dossier it says:

"Day 15, Bangkok - Kanchanaburi

Today there is the option to visit Kanchanaburi and The Bridge on the River Kwai or you may prefer to further explore Bangkok. Approx 6 hours driving to Kanchanaburi "

Can you tell me what this means? Are some of us able to go if the rest do not? Do we all go? Is it on the way from Chiang Mai? I would hate to miss this and if there is that possibility, I will go when we fly into Bangkok on Day one. Just looking for some clarification on what that paragraph means.

Re: Elephants and Adventure Question

Hi Eric,

Sorry for the delayed reply.

Generally everybody will head to Kanchanaburi at the end of your tour and a bus will be waiting for you one stop before the train's final destination in Bangkok on the way back from Chiang Mai.

It's normally the case that one or two people might continue on the train and head back to the hotel, which is an option, although like I say most travellers head over to Kanchanaburi on the bus(es) supplied.

It's not actually 6 hours away either but it's a good 3 hour drive and the buses normally stop at a floating market as well as a couple of 'pit stops' at roadside service stations along the way.

You might like to mention to your tour leader whilst on tour that it's something that you definitely want to do; that way if the others in your group decide against it your transport can still be arranged.

I hope this helps. Not long to go now. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,
Brendan
