Hi Everyone:

We are new to traveling with the Imaginative Traveler. Anyone else on this trip monitoring
the forum? Would be nice to chat a bit before the trip.
We are from the US, on the Gulf Coast.

Amongst the Maharajahs

Dear Ron & Barbara,

This tour is a well recommended one by travel agents to India. Everyone comes back with rave reviews.

We won't see you on your travels as we opted for Sameer's Rajasthan as his tour is new as of this year commencing in October 2009. Sameer was one of the tour directors for Amongst the Maharajahs and decided to do his own tour through ImTrav.

There is still space on our November tour if you would like to join us and leave a bit earlier than planned. Just a thought! The reason we chose this one is that it is about the same length but offered more included options and a bit more adventure - camel safari in the Thar Desert and overnight deluxe tented camp, jeep safari to look for leopards at night, train ride through the hills to see the Bhil towns. We just thought we would get more bang for buck!

In the meantime, I hope you are doing some reading on Rajasthan and India. There is definitely lots to see and somewhat of a culture shock depending on where you are from.

Have a great tour.

Hi Maureen:

Thanks for the reply and the information. If it weren't for the fact that we will be in Antarctica in November of this year, we would certainly consider joining you as your trip does sound fantastic.

We have been researching our trip, and travel for the culture, so we are looking forward to our journey even though it may not be as exciting as yours. This is our first time with Imtrav so if this trip works out I feel sure we will be booking others so we may end up taking your itinerary yet.

Best wishes on a successful and safe trip, I hope you will post when you return with a trip report.

Amongst the Maharajahs

Dear Ron & Barbara,

I will be reporting on the blog as suggested by ImTrav. My sister and I have travelled on several tours with ImTrav and love the fact that they are a small group travel company as it makes it easier to see and do so many things, including staying at heritage hotels and going to family run restaurants. We have been to Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and did Central Europe (Hungary, Slovak Republi, Czech Republic and Poland) all with ImTrav! I started out with Trafalgar Tours some 20 years ago - great trips for many years but very large group sizes doing all my European travels. Enjoyed the time but enjoy the intimate travel experience offered by ImTrav! You will have a great trip and it will be warmer than the Antarctic -- watch out for the penguins as they do peck! My husband spent many months there and he knows for sure...

Amongst The Maharajahs

Hi Ron & Barbara,

Have just booked this tour today and we will be arriving
from the UK on Friday 15th January.
Our daughter (who graduated from UEA yesterday) is going
on the Amritsar,Dharamsala & Desert tour at the end of this
month so we should get some good advise from her about
what to expect.
After this tour we join the Vietnam Explorer Tour out of
Hanoi on the 13th Febuary.
Hope others contribute to this forum and we look forward
to meeting erveryone in Delhi.

Regards Linda& Bill

Hi Linda & Bill:

Glad to hear from others who are joining this trip. We are busy working on air from Houston via different itineraries, some through London. We are a bit concerned about the weather in London in January so we are exploring options to fly to Istanbul or Dubai then on to Delhi. So far the best flights are through Heathrow though so if the price works we would come in a couple of days early before heading off to join the tour. There are usually some great fare sales here in the US for flights to London in the winter so we are going to wait a bit to see if anything develops. Glad to hear from you and looking forward to meeting you and others on this tour.
