Is anyone in a position to compare the Inca Trail trek to the Annapurna Sanctuary? Also how does the weather in April compare to the weather in September?
Thanks

Re: Annapurna Sanctuary 2206

Hello Ian,

Thanks for your post and apologies for the late response.

They are completely different. The Inca Trek is a three day and four night excursion during a tour of Peru to reach Machu Picchu, where as the Annapurna Sanctuary is a 15 nights and 16 day tour to Nepal, incorporating a 10 day moderate trek in a scenic mountain areas. The Inca Trek is classified as moderate to strenuous in difficulty so they differ here as well.

In terms of weather, Nepal in April averages at approximately 28 degrees, 28 in September where as Peru 19 in April and 20 in September.

All such information can be found in the trip and country dossiers readily available on our website or through emailing online@imtrav.net and requesting them.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Robert

Re: Annapurna Sanctuary 2206

I have trekked both Annapurna Sanctuary and the Inca Trail with Imaginative Travel... I was in Nepal in April, and in Peru in October. Personally I found Annapurna much harder, as there was thick snow on the trail on the last two days assent, so we where crossing avalanches! We also had extremely heavy down pours a couple of days, so make sure you take warm clothes and a water proof jacket which can cover your back pack (a pair of gaiters in also a great idea)... Also in terms of terran there is a huge difference in the treks, the Inca trail in through more open landscape where as Annapurna is forest. I hope you enjoy Annapurna as much as I did.

Agree with Poppy. I have completed both trips and found Annapurna much harder- April, lots of snow and avalanches near to base camps. Also very cold at night. Ask for extra blankets and fill water bottle up with boiling water on a night- keeps you warm and it's ready for you to drink in the morning.
Both are very rewarding trips, guides and porters great. Enjoy

Thanks to you for your informative replies. I'm already getting some extra miles in my legs. I just hope that the political situation clears up as I'm really looking forward to the trip.
Thanks again
