Re: Bejing to Kathmandu

Hello. Nice start!!! Yeah I'm on that tour, I'll be flying in about dinnertime on the 13th. No ideas of what to do in Beijing either, probably gonna get lost in some backalleys, yay. Nice to meet you.

Oh, has anybody got their hands on Nepalese visa or are we gonna get them when we fly in. Twenty of my british pounds to travcour, grrr outrage...

Re: Bejing to Kathmandu

i get in on the 12th at dawn or something shocking - i'm staying in the imtrav hotel they organise - didn't really trust my nonexistant mandarin....where are you staying?
i've already got a nepalese visa - i was meant to have done a india/nepal trip but nuclear war prevents....sigh...
take it you are british? or do you just pay in pounds anyway?!

Imtrav hotel too so I'll see you there. I've found that attempting to arrange my own room after a long flight always ends in tears. IT's seems better, and a free transfer too, blimey. I'm sorry about the abrupt, nuclear based, end to your previous trip, still mushroom clouds never wash out so it's probably for the best, eh!

I am indeed British. Specifically English, or to be ludicrously specific from Widnes just outside L'pool. Could you not tell by this outrageous accent - yourself?

well i may not have the definitely ludicrous accent - but i'm from glastonbury, but i'm just graduating from bristol uni.

looking forward to having some company in bejiing - lets see if i can get permanently lost by the time you arrive?!

have only just (yes i really am this organised) fully read the trip dossier. am having serious concerns about my level of fitness..... eeek.

so tell me something about yourself - for example - what do you do??! as you already know i am a slack student.... well i have been one for a while...

Re: Bejing to Kathmandu

How is it that students always root each other out?!!! Yup I am also a student, well was, just graduated and now in denial. Did English and Philosophy at L'pool. So much in denial in fact that i've quit my job, my hobbies and am moving far away. But I always wanted to go to China and it's not a trip I think I'd have fun doing on my own, hence imtrav.

I don't think you need to worry about your fitness. I've seen a few of these groups around about and they just move at their own pace, usually seems quite relaxed. However this will count for nought if you get permanently lost in Beijing, bailing you out of slavery on the first day of having meet you might be a curious introduction!!

Okay, your turn. Info time.

Re: Bejing to Kathmandu

right. um, my name's Esther - but my witty parents landed me with the initials ETC - so that's what that's all about.

I assure you i'm very interesting - i say this in advance because i'm graduating in economics and politics and i'm starting at law school in september! it's not that bad though!!!! although at the moment i'm very scared as my finals marks come out on wednesday

enough about me getting lost in bejiing - this is a serious concern of mine, and i really hope that if you can't find me when you arrive you will send out search parties etc!!!

what's your email address? you can email me on etclothier@hotmail.com if that's easier...

I was, for an entire year, a law student at Sheffield uni, before I ran away to join the philosophy circus. So you'll recieve no mocking here. Instead an appreciative head nod at the amount you have to read.

Don't worry about getting lost, you've not had a holiday if you haven't got lost in a city in which no one speaks your language. I think that's backpacker rule #12. So long as you carry your hotel address around at all times you'll always get home, possibly.

Have you travelled before... why yes I am a regularl user of local transportation. Crap question. Have you backpacked or anything similiar before? That's better.

my e-mail is dr_l_bastardo@hotmail.com
Erm, yeah think how embarrasing any public place becomes when I give that out. It seemed much more sensible when I made it up. You're right though it's e-mail time.
