China Discovery - Summer Palace

My wife and I are taking this trip in October.

Can anyone who has been on this tour advise me whether or not there is sufficient free time in Beijing to see the Summer Palace?

Hi Ian,

Thanks for your post. While your time in Beijing is quite busy during the actual tour on days 13 & 14, you will have time to visit the Summer Palace on day 15 (the day the tour ends).

The Summer Palace is easily visited on a last day. A trip to the zoo is possible on the way there. The 332 bus starts right in front of the zoo ( the stop is clearly signed ). If time was pressing, I think I would go to the Temple of Heaven instead. I found it more interesting, both from an architecture perspective, and for observing and meeting the local people (its also more accessible on the Subway)
