Hi
I'm off to China on the 19th and just wanted to check the best way to take money. Someone on this message board said that it was really hard to change Travellers cheques at the moment...is this true ? as i was planning to take mostly trav cheques. Also should i take cash in Chinese currency or just pounds?
Also how common are ATM machines for cirrus / visa cash withdrawals?
thanks for any advice

Re: china money?
Hi Martha 1,
We recommend that you bring a mix of cash and travellers cheques. In China, the US dollar is the prefered foreign currency but English pounds are also very easy to exchange. If you are arriving into Beijing airport, you will find an ATM in the baggage reclaim hall. It is located at the far left of this hall. There is also another ATM in the arrivals area. Please ask your transfer person if you want to use this one.
There are other ATMs in most major cities which accept foreign Visa cards.
Most Bank of China branches will change Travellers Cheques and cash.
Your hotel in Beijing will also change travellers cheques and cash.
I hope that you have a great trip in China
