Currency exchange in India

The country dossier mentions that USD or Sterling are recommended.

Has anyone had any experiences trying to convert Euros.

Hi, I live in France so my native currency is Euros but my travel agent has reccomended that I take sterling or us dollars. Apparently they're much more widely accepted and you will get a better exchange rate for them.

Thanks for the posts.

I would recommend that you take USD as this the most widely accepted currency and the local payment is made in USD. GBP is also widely accepted and you should be able to exchange Euro relatively easily but you would be better of with USD.

Hi there. I've just come back from India with regard to changing money those who had Euro's didn't appear to have any problems changing them at proper places, something like 50 rupees to the Euro, USD was around 45 Rupees
