Hi All - Am trying to get an understanding of what sort of fitness is going to be required to enjoy Everest BC later this year.
Can anyone give me an indication of how they found it and what level of fitness they had before going??
Thanks!!

Everest Base Camp fitness level
Hi there - and thanks for your question.
I did the Everest Base Camp trip myself recently and can honestly say that pretty much anyone can accomplish it so long as they are reasonably fit and have a positive attitude.
Initially the altitude will affect you as it will affect everyone, but your body soon adapts and you will quickly find that you are more than able to handle the occasional very steep inclines. The aim of the tour is not to push you to your limit, or to reach the Base Camp in record time. The emphasis is always on enjoyment and slow acclimatisation. If this means that the group takes a little longer to reach the tea house lodge at the end of the day, then so be it.
In short, most people can make this tour. I was trekking with two people in their early 60's and they were absolutely fine. If you feel that you are having problems, all you need do is tell your guides and they will be very happy to take an extra break to allow you to catch your breath.
I hope this helps answer your questions.
