I'm considering going on this trip but I'm somewhat worried about the health risks. Is it really as bad as some people tell (=most people getting seriously ill) or can you avoid a lot by being cautious ?

I'm also most interested in feedback about the tour from people who've participated.

Re: Ganges & Nepal

Hi Nancy,

Once you arrive your tour guides would be able to offer you any advice you would need as regard health risks.

However, before you leave you should be aware of the following:

No inoculations are legally required to enter either India or Nepal but it is strongly recommended that you receive meningitis, typhoid and hepatitis A jabs before you leave. It is also worthwhile checking that you are up to date with tetanus, polio and other boosters.

As regards stomach upsets, as long as you follow your tour guides advice and use common sense (i.e. Bottled water only, sticking to very freshly prepared foods)you only need worry about relaxing and enjoying your journey.

The bottom line is to visit your GP before you leave and get the low-down on what jabs you'll need and listen to your tour guides. Most important is not to worry yourself sick before you even arrive.
