Hi,

I'm interested in the "Yangtse and the S/W" (ATYS) and "The Great China Adventure" (ATGC) tours.

1. I'm leaning towards ATYS because of the boat cruise, but do you know of any add-ons/extensions that I could combine with ATGC for a slightly extended trip including a Yangtse River Cruise?

2. Also, I'm wondering about the quality of accomodations. Are we talking about 3/4/5-Star for the hotels? (Realistically, I'm not
expecting that much, but I've seen a lot of tours advertised with 5-star hotels).

3. Also, which ship (Name?) is used for the Yangtse cruise?

4. How is availability for the tours right now, for August or early September departures?

We sell our tours as whole units and do not offer tailor-made packages. However we offer 6 different tours or combinations that take in a cruise on the Yangtse; China Unmasked, Beijing to Kathmandu, China Explored, Journey Across China, Yangtse and the Southwest and China Insight.

We do not offer a standard star rating system for hotels on our tours as they are often misleading and as interpretations vary widely from country to country.

Hi Ronin,

I did the Great China Adventure in 1999. About some of your questions:

The hotel standards for these Traveller style tours (which both ATYS and ATGC are) are excellent, between 3 and 4 stars! You don't need to worry about shabby hotels here.
If you like Chinese rock gardens, I would recommend ATGC: especially the region around Shanghai has a lot of these beautiful gardens!
I can't tell you which trip is better (since I didn't ATYS), but I can say that the ATGC trip was so good and you see so much that I didn't feel that I was missing anything here, including a Yangtse cruise!

I'm sure you will like China with Imtrav, whatever trip you choose!
