Hi all. I'm planing to head to India at the end of the year, but don't really know where to start looking at places to see and things to do on the tours. IM seem to have heaps on offer, so i'm just wondering if anyone can suggest tours that they've been on, or maybe some places that have been really good to see and experience.
Or otherwise, maybe point me in the direction of some good sites/books?
Thanks!!

Re: India suggestions please?
Hey..I have been on 2 India Imaginative Traveller tours.North India Highlights..And Kerala in Style.I loved them both, but would recommend North India Highlights for your first tour to India. It is awesome and gives you a really good introduction to India..
Guess it just depends..how long of a tour you want and what you want to experience..
But i am sure which ever one you choose, you won't be disappointed...![[Smile]](smile.gif)
Re: India suggestions please?
I went to India with Imtrav last November. I wanted to see a much as I could in three weeks that's why I chose the Amritsar, Dharamsala and the Desert Cities of Rajasthan tour. India is a hectic place and not having to worry about transportation and lodging was nice. I would say if you've never been to India before take a tour that way the next time you go (and trust me you'll go another time) you'll know the ins and outs.
But, if you have plenty of time (at least a month) and a sense of adventure by all means go by yourself and have fun. A great website/community devoted to traveling in India can be found at: www.indiamike.com. Use the search function to get what you are specifically looking for. Do your research before posting a question. Nothing is more annoying than newbies posting a "Where should I go?" question on the India Mike website.

Hi there. I completed Amritsar, Dharamsala and the Desert Cities of Rajasthan Tour last year and it was FANATASTIC. Was my first trip to India as well and found the diversity of the palces we visited amazing - from the forts in rajastan to the spiritual cities of Pushkar and Dharamsala, absolutely magical. Highly recommend this tour particularly as a first introduction to the beauty and chaos of India![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Thanks guys. I've decided on the Rajasthan safari and have booked it! Very excited! Mind you, it's not till the end of the year... but I have plenty of time to research now.
Thanks all for your help.
