Hi everyone,
I'm booked on the India/Nepal tour called 'Mountains and Plains' commencing 26th Dec 2010.
Probably will be flying to Kathmandu via Delhi from Heathrow on xmas day late evening flights.
I'm considering a short trip on conclusion of the tour - catch a train from Delhi to Mumbai and stay there for a few days and then fly out from Mumbai. Train would be an overnight sleeper which seems to be relatively inexpensive and would be an experience...
The main reason for doing this is because I am keen to visit the slum district of Mumbai and you can book a day trip to cover this - check out p702 of Rough Guide 7th Ed or website www.realitytoursandtravel.com. Kevin McCloud the guy off grand designs did a documentary on this (Dharavi area) which first got me interested in visiting India.
I would be really interesed to hear from anyone who has done similar before!
Thanks in anticipation,
Neil

HI Neil
There are 6 of you booked on the tour, so hopefully someone will be in contact with you.

Hi,
I'm not doing this tour but i'm sure you'll enjoy it very much! India and Nepal are awesome destinations.
I'll go to Nepal in May with my little family :) we want to stay there for 2 weeks and we don't know where to stay, is it better to stay in an hotel or in a local B&B. My husband has looked on http://hotel.twenga.co.uk/nepal/kathmandu.html and on http://www.kathmandu-hotels.com/ but not very the nepalese spirit! :)
my kids want a real nepalese atmosphere! they are very attracted by this culture! so i don't know what is best for them, i mean about the hygiene.
any suggestion is more than welcomed! :)
thanks everyone!
