Re: Nepal
Hello alexh,
Thanks for the posting.
We consider all the security situations that we come across very carefully and plan according with reference to our local office and the foreign office.
In case of Nepal we considered that to operate the tours according to schedule that we would introduce flights substituting road transport on some tour components which may be delayed. Should your tour have been affected then you will have been contacted.
Currently everything is fine and I'll keep you posted of an future changes.
Re: Nepal
Hi Alex,
I'll back up what's just been said. Nepal has it's problems, but, they are not aimed at foreigners. Yes there are parts of the country where high pressure is put on locals to support one side or the other, but this would not affect you on a tour. Trouble does flare up, but again, you would be extremely unlucky to be affected in a way other than delays or re-routing of transport options.
The biggest problem you will probably find is a delay on the 'main' road across the country due to accidents, landslides or both. It all adds to what we termed on our tour the 'Nepal Experience' and you just have to take it with a laugh.
Our greatest 'experience' came when there was a general strike near our trek end point and we had to walk 50km to Pokhara. Needless to say we were knackered and opted to stay an extra day there and cut our rafting down to 1/2 a day - well worth it as it turned out as Pokhara is great.
If you do come across maoists then you pay the 'fee' get your pass and go on your way.
Nepal is a lovely country so go for it.
