I'm probably worrying about nothing, but recently read an article in the current National Geographic about the situation in Nepal and Maoist revolution, and it appears to be more heated than before.
Has anyone recently been to Nepal, if so is it safe? In particular the Annapurna Sanctuary.
Thanks

Re: Is Nepal currently safe for tourism?
Hey Nehal,
Thanks for your post.
Imaginative Traveller trips operating in Nepal have had no safety problems to date, despite the widely publicised internal conflicts, such as those featured in the National Geographic about which you speak.
Naturally, we take the safety of our travellers very seriously and given that we have a local office in Nepal, would be amongst the first to hear about any potentially dangerous flare ups. Our Operations Department continue to keep a close eye on the situation.
We would not send travellers to parts of the world where their safety may be compromised and continue to operate trips to Nepal, as advertised. At the moment we do have in place a policy whereby an additional supplement applies for travel by air as opposed to road on some journeys in Nepal. This is not intended as a safety measure as such, but rather to avoid possible long delays and any inconvenience due to some roads being closed. Again, this is more for convenience than safety, but nonetheless it can't be denied that this adds an extra dimension to the safety of travel in Nepal when travelling with The Imaginative Traveller.
Sorry for the late response, we were waiting to see if anyone recently returning from Nepal would reply, but often silence speaks volumes.
Kind Regards,
Robert
