Hi

Thinking of China Explored in Sep 04.

What's the weather like at beginning / mid September? A good time to travel?

Wishing to see all the "must see" sites of Beijing and Hong Kong while over there, how long if any would you recommend arriving before / staying after the official tour ends? Would a day or two extra be better spent in Beijing or Hong Kong or a day at each?

For Hong Kong, must-see place included 'Po Lin Monastery and Big Buddha' and the Peak. The temple locates in a remote area and need at least 2 hours travel. If you arrive early in the morning it can be finished in 1 day. Otherwise, I think 2 day is more suitable. You can go to below website to select the places you like to visit.

Re: "China Explored"

Hi Fred,

Thanks for your post. As China is such a big country the weather can vary from one place to another as you go north/south. Have a look at this link for links to guides to conditions in various areas of China: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/world/country_guides/country.shtml?tt=TT002100

There are lots of things to see and do in Beijing and Hong Kong, and many of our travellers book extra accommodation with us to do their own sightseeing, for a couple of days on average. Our Beijing hotel is located within walking distance of a metro station, from where you can easily reach the main sights for visiting.

If you get a good guidebook and figure out the main things you want to see and do, then you will be able to work out if you would be better to spend your extra time in either Hong Kong or Beijing. If there are things in both places you want to do, then you could look at dividing your time.

I hope this helps - enjoy planning yuor trip!

Re: "China Explored"

I did China Explored starting 30.8.03.
The weather was generally good but with intermittent showers.I arrived on Sat afternoon for a tour that met on Monday night. That was sufficient advance time, but only gave half days at Tiantin and Summer Palace. In hindsight, one extra day would have been better. I had an extra night in HK as well. Good luck
