Hello fellow travellers!
I just did a search about Rajasthan Safari and there is not that much updated information! I am planning on starting my tour on Sept/24th.
I guess the standard questions follow:
1) Anyone else going on this tour? I am leaving from Vancouver (Canada) and would like to know if is there anyone else out there going for the same tour?
2) Has anyone gone on this tour recently and what are their impressions? I have traveled with Imm Trav befor and I am very satisfied customer so I know that the tour will b e awesome. I am looking for more of the practical info such as which hotels are used after delhi. How are the sleeper trains (I can't sleep on them so if there is beer or alcohol on board it should make it bearable!
3) How is the camel situation? I went on a 45 minutes ride on Egypt and I must say they are by far the most uncomfortable animals to ride on. I just hope there is an option or I will just walk along side the animal ;-)
any other observations about where they take you and what is there to buy? I would also like to know if there are shisha bars? I picked that hobby from my middle east travels.
Cheers and thank you for reading all my posting ! :-) ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)

Re: Rajasthan Safari
Hi Jarodtaz!
Wow this is a excellent trip to pick! I have been on the Rajastan Explorer so i might be able to give you some handy hints?
The accommodation was really nice, i was very impressed actually as i was expecting something quite basic! You are on a Traveller style trip though so it will be quite a bit nicer too!
I only did the shorter version of the Camel Safari i am afraid but it was excellent and the time really flied! We had 1 camel each which was much more comfy. It might be a good idea to purchase a cheap cushion in a market for extra padding! Although the saddles are well padded anyway.
Shopping! There is loads to buy in india, so make sure you take plenty of spending money. I bought; bedspreads, clothes, jewellery, leather items, spices and much more....in fact we got all our christmas prezzies there!

Re: Rajasthan Safari
Hi
Just joined the forum - I have booked on the Rajasthan Safari Trip in December 2007.
My first trip to India - any good tips?
Also I have two extra days in Delhi on my own - am a keen photography -.
What are the attitudes of people to being photographed.
Although I live in Australia I have orginated from South Africa so if any body needs tips for these places feel free to ask.
How safe is it for me to walk to streets on my own?
Re: Rajasthan Safari
Hi Susie,
Thanks for your questions.
You should not have a problem wandering the streets during the day time as India is a safe country to visit. However you should exercise caution and common sense when doing so and we recommend that female travellers in particular take taxis in the evening time and do not wander around after dark on their own.
You should treat people just the same as you would anywhere else in the World if you would like to take their picture. Always ask for permission and don't be surprised if some locals ask for a small payment for 'permission' to take their picture, which is a local custom in many touristy areas.
And here are a couple of tips for you, taken from our India country dossier , as I have sadly not been to India myself yet:
Make sure you bring lots of clothing that covers shoulders and knees and also more than one outfit which covers your legs to ankles and your arms past the elbows. A sarong is an invaluable item to carry as it can be used to instantly cover any exposed areas (i.e. head, legs). In certain areas and religious sites your Tour Leader may ask you to dress conservatively. Out of respect for local values, we ask that you follow your Tour Leader
