Hi there. I am interested in going on the South Indian Adventurer in June or August - has anyone been on this? The itinerary looks great, but being a newbie to these kind of tours I have a few questions:
I am vegetarian, is that likely to be a problem? (I have been told that most food in S India is vegetarian-based, is this true?).
I have also been told that the wet season starts around June/July - but what is "wet"? Are we talking constant monsoon for the entire trip or just the likelihood of getting frequent soakings in between fairly decent weather? Is the weather likely to cause a major problem with the trip/itinerary at this time of year?
The tour starts in Trivandrum and ends in Goa - how do people generally get back to Trivandrum to get a flight home? Train? Fly? Fly home from Goa? AS you can tell I have no idea how far Triv. is from Goa.
Do people generally book flights to arrive/leave a day either side of the tour dates, or arrive/leave on the same day?
What vaccinations are needed for India (coming from UK)? Is malaria a problem? (I'm thinking yes in the wet).
Thanks in advance for any advice/answers!
Clive.

Re: South India Adventurer
Hi Clive
Southern India is fantastic for vegeterians with the majority of dishes being vegeterian.
I am unable to forcast the weather but I do understand your position. The weather can be unpredicatable and you are planning to travel towards the start of the rainy season.
No one can predict how the weather will effect an upcoming tour, however we have operated our tours in India for many years with little or no disruption during the rainy season. You may find the following website of some use.

It is possible to fly out of Goa at the end of the tour. Arrival times are usually dictated by flight times or peoples desires to spend extra time in the start/finish locations. We can provide pre and post tour accomodation as an extra service.
I cannot comment on medical matters but I would suggest that you contact MASTA. They can be conatcted on 0906 8224100 and offer comprehensive advice to travellers on medical matters. You can always seek your doctors advice.

Re: South India Adventurer
Thanks for the advice James! I have since decided against India during the (UK) summer, having spoken to my yoga teacher who goes out there a lot! Not that I won't go, I'll just pick a drier time. I am actually hoping to go for one of your Egyptian trips this summer - very hot I expect, but drier!
Thanks again,
Clive.
