Hi is anyone booked on this tour? If anyone has been before any top tips on wot/wot not take? Are the mosquitoes bad or is one can of repellent enough? Is there anything I can take to help the locals , or is it better just to go and spend my money there?
Thanks in advance
Kathy

Hello Kathy,
Mosquito repellent is always a good item to pack when travelling in South East Asia.
This should contain a high percentage of deet though you may prefer a herbal alternative.
Showing your support through travelling to Sri Lanka and spending your money locally will enable the local people to use the money to their best advantage.

Yes, you will definitely need mosquito repellent for the evenings. I went on this trip in February and found that a lot of the places we stayed in had plug in repellents or mosquito coils in the room. A couple had mosquito nets.
Its a really good trip with lots to see and do. The best way to help is to go and spend your money there! You might find it useful to see the forum posts umder "Day trips from Bentota", "Please go to Sri Lanka" and "Sri Lanka 12 Feb",
Have a great trip

Mossys were an issue in the evening, however I came away having not been bitten at all. The sensible thing is to take long, thin clothing so you are covered up in the evening. I then put 100% deet onto the edges of my clothes. Clothing that covers you up is also needed for the numerous temples you go to, and personally I just find it more comfortable anyway.
