I like to travel in Oct/Nov. This is one of the recommended travel times for Nepal. However all descriptions seem to mention the stunning scenary of the spring rhododendrums.
Having said that, I still like to travel in Oct/Nov. Are there other pros/cons to travel in either season to help weigh the decision?
Thanks

Re: When to go to Nepal
Hi Denise,
Thanks for your question.
October to May is considered the best time to trek and go sightseeing in Nepal so both times are good.
I've spoken with an ex-tour leader (who is conveniently sitting next to me today!) and she has advised that there is little difference between October and February/March in terms of the visibility or weather so I wouldn't advise either time is better than the other and both are good times to head to Nepal.
You may find that air-fares to Nepal are slightly less in the spring time as October can be a very expensive time to fly to Kathmandu; this is certainly the case from the UK unfortunately.
I hope this helps with your decision.

Brendan
Re: When to go to Nepal
Thanks for a quick response. So then it's just whether I want to see the rhododedrums blooming?
Anything of interest flowering in November?
Re: When to go to Nepal
Hi Denise,
I'm afraid my knowledge of the flowers in Nepal is somewhat limited to rhododendrums although nothing is mentioned in the literature that I refer to to help me answer weather-related questions so, given the time of year and no mention of anything in particular, I would assume not a lot is blooming at that time of year although if anybody knows differently please correct me.
Regards,
Brendan
Re: When to go to Nepal
Denise - I'd love to be able to answer this question for you, because I travelled to Nepal in November in 2004, but I'm not much of a horticulturalist, to be honest!
What I would say is that, whilst I've heard the rhodedendrons are spectacular in bloom, the countryside in Nepal appears to be staggeringly beautiful all year round (it certainly was in November!). The climate in November was very pleasant, too, averaging around 18-25 degrees C in my experience, and not at all clammy or humid.
Obviously, when you go to Nepal is your choice, but I wouldn't get so hung up on the rhodedendrons that you forget that Nepal has a lot more to offer besides these!
As for flights, I paid about
