Hello! I will be going in a tour with Imtrav and after that I would like to stay by my own around one month visiting Kerala and Goa and other places. I am a young 50 year woman and have travelled many times by myself, also to some East countries, but never to India... Is it too crazy? I plan to do it in 1st class trains and stay in 2 or 3 stars hotels, and never go out by night. May I please have some advice from somebody who has had the experience?? Many many thanks. Bye!!

Re: Women alone in India... I need advice please!
Hi,
I went on a tour in India and loved it - although travelling in India is not without its special challenges.
On the course of my travels through Asia and SE Asia I met lots of people [including women] who travelled in India under their own steam. I think that it can definitely be done. If you have the interest then you have the ability - Do it!!
My advice [and I'm sure there are others who have more specific advice and helpful tips] is that cities are probably safer (as they are more worldly) but once you settle down there you will meet lots of other traveller's who can share with you neat villages/towns for you to visit. The only other thing is that Indians dress very modestly. Take lots of loose fitting and modest clothes - it does make a difference with how many men will treat you.
Have a wonderful time!
