I would love to hear from anyone who has any experience either first-hand or from friends regarding walking the Inca Trail as someone with epilepsy.

I, myself, have epilepsy and am worried about the stress I may put on myself through having to take extra medication on top of what I take already and the potential danger I may be putting myself at by taking on such a strenuous trek.

Any advice, tips or anecdotes would be greatly appreciated.

Ian

Re: Epilepsy and the Inca Trail

Hi Tom

I don't have epilepsy but two close friends do and neither had any difficulty with the Inca Trail. The trick is to be fit before setting out. (Which applies to anyone wanting to do this walk.)

I don't know whereabouts you are but there's sure to be a travel medical service you can contact for advice. In Oz it's called TravDoc.

Good luck

of course, you should also consult your doctor. I'm sure she / he will have good advice for you. Kaye.
