I am also doing the Bangkok to Singapore trip on the 4 Jul. I am the same Clare that posted the 'Asia Alone' posts!!
Due to my sister going into hospital before the summer and work I have booked to do this trip rather than the longer Hanoi to Singapore. I want to give the struggling student (my sister) some money in the summer to visit her friend in Sweden. Also I may be able to get the shorter time paid off work!
I have also not travelled before except having been to Europe and the US so as I am on my own thought this trip would give me more of a taster!

Hmmm, what to expect from this trip?
In June you'll be staying in Tongnaipan Beach on Koh Pha Ngan and l have to say my favourite beach in Thailand. Most other beaches on this island are shallow coral beds, but not our beach. The waves lap along the sand all year around with fantastic phosphorescence at night. All in all, beautiful! There is a bit of a difference in accommodation standards between Thailand and Malaysia. In Malaysia the accommodation is a bit more basic and hostel-like. Its a great trip, you'll actually cover a hell of a lot of the region with a bit of relaxation along the way.

Hi Lisa! I'm also doing the Bangkok to Singapore trip on July 4th with my sister, though 'fraid I can't exactly offer any useful tips as have never been to Asia before, save for taking garlic capsules to stop the mosquitos biting you.
