Gonna book this trip today. Is anyone else going? Get in touch, at least we won't be strangers when we meet.

Re: Bangkok-Singapore 13th Jan 2005
Hiya I have just got back from doing this trip (well about 3 weeks ago now) and it was brill, i would say however its hard work moving around all the time using the public trains and buses espically in the heat, it does tirer you out, but there again you have loads of time to chill out (ko phangan) the full moon party is out of this world, the night we went there was 10,000 people on this little beech all pissed and or stones, the boat ride back wasnt as much fun, i would say the accomodation is very disapsoniting and it get more and more basic with only cold showers as you get towards singapore, but thats what the trip is all about, 2 points i will say if you have a british passport you dont need a visa you just get 1 there, and take as little as possible is easy to wash your clothers and you never wear all that you take with you, anyway i hope you have a lovely trip if you need to know anything about this trip let me know

Yeah, you made it sound great!!!!! Anyway, I've booked it now. I just like the idea of cold showers. Any especially good bits should I look out for? And what was the mix of people on your trip? Any single travellers? Thanks John

Hiya,
I'm going on the Bangkok-Singapore tour starting Jan 6 2005, so I'll see you then Chrissy! I'm travelling alone too; very relieved that I'm not the only single traveller on the trip! haha. I'm going to be in South East Asia for six weeks before I join the tour, is anyone doing anything similar?? Also, anyone know what the food options are like for vegetarians? Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Hi, There is an excellent vegetarian cafe/restaurant just on the corner near the hotel you guys will stay at (New World Lodge) Its run by a German guy called Lucas and does incredible veggie curries, rices and sandwiches.... and the flavour! WOW! Its called Corner Cafe and is the corner (really?)just outside the hotel. There's other great stuff there as well. Across the road n Samsen Road there is a fantastic Blues bar with incredible music belted out by Miss Georgia and next door is the Baghdad Cafe where the guy who owns it has a Turkish wife and does great sheesha pipes and Turkish coffe and also great middle-eastern type music. The whole area is great and you don't have to go to Khao San Road and be innundated by so called travellers.
Have fun and maybe I'll see you in the Blues BAr or Baghdad Cafe.

Hi Don Suz,
Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely be checking out Corner Cafe, it sounds perfect! The other places you mention sound well worth a visit too so I may well see you there. How long are you in Bangkok for? I'm arriving on Tuesday, can't wait!

Hey!
Im also doing this tour on the 13th Jan as a single travellor.
Is there any advice anyone can give as to what type of lugage to take (suitcase/backpack) and what types of clothes to wear - Like what counts as 'conservative'?
Its probably obvious, but this is my first trip over seas by myself.
Cheers, Nik

Hi Nikkee,
A backpack will be much easier for you on this trip, as Suzanne mentions above you do have to catch trains and public buses etc and you will have to carry your own luggage. Dressing conservatory mainly means covering up your knees and elbows i.e not wearing vest tops and short skirts. This is not the case on all of the tour and your tour leader will advise you when this is necessary.
I hope this helps.
