Hi,
I am going on the Bangkok to Singapore trip on the 6th of November, just wondering if anyone reading this would be joining me. If not then if anyone has been on one of the tours before I would love to hear about your experiences. This tour is the start of a 1 year trip and I am looking forward to starting it so if anyone has an tips let me know.
Cheers
Sophie

Re: Bangkok to Singapore
Hi Richard,
Thanks for the reply good to hear from you, I am also arriving the night before so we can wander the streets of Bangkok together. I have also never done anything like this before so it should be a great expereince for us both.
Are you going by yourself or with a friend?
Sophie
Re: Bangkok to Singapore
Hi Sophie,
Just little old me! It's quite daunting at the moment but I am sure when I get out there everything will be fine.
Where are you flying from?
Richard
Re: Bangkok to Singapore
Hello,
I am getting quite excited now, dread to think what I will be like a week before we go!
I am flying from Newcastle to Heathrow and then on from Heathrow (with British airways I think). How about you? Are you just doing this trip or going anywhere else?
Sophie
Re: Bangkok to Singapore
Sophie,
Flying from Manchester to Copenhagen and then into Bangkok. Just this trip for me - very much a slave to the wage ..... I would like at some point to do the RTW thing but it's going to have to wait for while.
I think first night drinks in Bangkok are in order!
Richard
Re: Bangkok to Singapore
Hello,
That was a quick reply ...
I am sure that this trip will give you the travel bug I feel like I have caught it already and I have not even set off yet, a bit premature maybe!
A drink will def be in order when we arrive, very important to get involved in local culture and all that.

Re: Bangkok to Singapore
Sophie,
I tend to only use my computer to check e-mails first thing in the morning, so it was more luck than judgement.
When it gets closer to the time, we will have to sort out a place to meet in Bangkok as it will make it a little less daunting to at least know one other person on the first night!
I have been out and bought a few different books on Thailand so should know the name of a few places to meet up. I am booked in for an extra
night at the hotel where the tour commences which you may/may not also be doing?

Re: Bangkok to Singapore
Hi Sophie,
I've just booked the Bangkok to Singapore tour leaving 1st January 2004, although i'll be leaving London heathrow, 31st December 2003.
Spending new years eve in the air is going to be very different, and my see the new year in more than one as I fly through the various time zones - who knows.
After the trip has finished i'm spending an extra 2 days in singapore just before I fly back to the UK.

Re: Bangkok to Singapore
Hi Dave,
I will have to let you know how this trip goes, I am really looking forward to it now. That will be strange spending new year in the air especially if you do go through different time zones, an experience that not many can say they will have had. Have you ever done anything like this before?
Sophie
Re: Bangkok to Singapore
I've never done anything like this before, its going to be a new experience.
I've only ever been on your typcial package holiday, although I did go to Uganda. Uganda was totally different.
I've just found somebody else who is doing the same trip as me, and also staying in Singapore an extra 2 nights.
Spending new years eve is going to be fantastic I think, people will be definately in the spirit.
And spending my 23rd birthday in Malaysia is going to be brill!!!
Are you staying in Singapore when you complete your trek, or travelling on somewhere else. As you might be there when I complete me trip
Dave
Re: Bangkok to Singapore
Hi,
What a way to spend new year and your birthday you will have such a great time.
Its good that you have found someone else on the same trip its good to be able to chat to someone whos going to be on the same trip as you.
Once I finish the trip I am flying on to Auss and spending the rest of the year traveling (and working to fund the traveling) so I am really looking forward to that. I will be in Sydney at new year so we will both be having a fab time.
Sophie
Re: Bangkok to Singapore

What sort of work can you do in auss?
Re: Bangkok to Singapore
HI - I've posted a long message under a couple of other posts entitled BKK-Sing if you want to have a look!
Forgot to mention - do the Night Safari in Singapore at the Zoo - fabulous!!
Penang - take the boat cruise and try to catch the laser show
Cameron Highlands - just relax - they're great! Good bar which I'm sure rep will show you, is up behind the shops, part of a hostel. Outside bonfire and cheap beer. One of the girls did the trek and she was knackered and found it very hard, but fun. I didn't even consider it! Was ill anyway!
KL - wine and cheese on the roof top of the hostel overlooking the city - beautiful! GO up the Petronas Towers.
Have wittered on too long.
You'll love it! Read my other post too...
