Is anyone booked on this trip? Going alone so would be cool to say a few hello's before we go.

Hi Ali,

There are others booked on your tour and it has already reached minimum numbers (4 people). There are a couple of people travelling on their own at the moment, including yourself.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions about your tour please let me know.

Regards,
Brendan

Hey, Yup I'm on this trip as well. First adventure tour I've been on and travelling on my own so happy to chat before the trip to get to know each other! [Smile] Really looking forward to it!

Re: Bangkok to Singapore 25th June

Hey,

Can anyone make suggestions re: luggage for this trip? I'm debating between around 45L rucksack (+daysack)or holdall. Something I'm concerned about is the possible volume of rain so that whatever I carry is watertight. Also I was looking at some convertible holdalls that also function as rucksacks but they tend to be either too large or very expensive.

Can anyone make any recommendations, including where to buy this cheaply? [Confused]

Thanks,
L

Hi Lem,

Thanks for your questions.

The things to consider when purchasing your luggage are:

- Is it too big?
- Is it comfortable to carry?
- Is it easy to pack and unpack?
- Does it have wheels?

You can choose between a large holdall bag with soft-sides (and possibly wheels) or a traditional large rucksack.

Both have their advantages and as long as the luggage that you choose is comfortable to carry over short distances, not too large and easy to pack and un-pack then it should be fine and the choice is yours.

Personally I prefer a large soft-sided bag with wheels but one that is also easy to carry over my shoulders. The main advantage over a rucksack for me is that it is easier to pack and un-pack, easier to carry when the ground is level and easier to 'squeeze' into tight spaces such as trains and buses.

I hope this helps?

Regards,
Brendan

Re: Bangkok to Singapore 25th June

Thanks Brendan,

Do you know how much we will be expected to carry luggage on this trip? (Bangkok > Singapore).

The other thing as well is I've been looking at is differences between bags on the internet (rucksacks and holdalls) and am not sure the kind of size people travel with for a 2 week long holiday. I've seen 40L bags but not sure if that has enough capacity. Do people normally travel with larger 60L bags or can 40L be sufficient?

Thanks very much,
L

Hi Lem,

Thanks for your question.

To be honest I don't know the exact size of luggage that each traveller takes on this tour. It's a compromise between travelling as light as possible yet having enough space to carry all your clothes and accessories whilst on tour.

There are opportunities to wash your clothes whilst on tour so try to stick to as small a bag as possible as a rule of thumb. I'm actually quite bad at packing and usually take too much with me!

I hope this helps?

Brendan

Most seem to take 60+ litre packs. You don't have to fill it. 40 litres is a bit small - unless you're a real minimalist I think you'd struggle with that, especially if you want to buy souvenirs. My rucksack's a 75 litre one which is plenty. I also carry a small daysack (15 litre) which fits inside it.

Anyone else going on this tour? Seems its the only Bangkok > Singapore one with vacancies and others on similar dates are all booked out!

Hi Lem,

Thanks for your question.

This tour is more than half full at the moment but there are still a few places left and still time to book.

I hope this helps.

Brendan
