Minimum Numbers
Can you please tell me the minimum number of traveller required to run this tour. Has that threshold been reached? We are booked.

Hello kiwicruisers,
At the moment we don't have the minimum group size reached on your tour, we just need a few more people to join you for this tour to be guaranteed.

Kelly

We are booked for this trip. Middle- aged couple from NZ. We live on a dairy farm. Have never been to Vietnam before. Last year went to Turkey with Imaginative Traveller.
Because it will be hot and wet in Vietnam will need plenty of mosquito repellant. Been wondering whether we need antimalarials for the areas we are going. Made up our sheet sleeping bags at the weekend - need them for the Mekong Delta Homestay and probably on the train to Sapa. We arrive in HCMC on 8th July so have few days at the "meeting point hotel" prior to tour starting.
Interested to find out about getting some clothes Tailor made while in Vietnam

Malaria Prophylaxis
Been doing further reading and think that we should take malaria prophylaxis. mdtravelhealth.com is a reliable site and it recommends that Malaria prophylaxis is recommended for all areas of Vietnam except urban area, the Red River Delta & coastal plains north of Nha Trang. Mekong Delta is probably risky.
The highest risk is in provinces of Ca Mau and Bac Lien in the south. Can Imaginative Traveller comment whether we are going to those provinces please?

Hello Bronwyn,
Thanks for your post.
On the tour Beyond the Ho Chi Minh Trail we do not go as far south as Ca Mau or Bac Lien. Various organisations including World Health Organisation do acknowledge there is a risk of malaria in Vietnam. Imaginative Traveller suggests that guests take preventative measures against mosquito bites including:
- Using insect repellent especially in river areas
- Sleeping under mosquito netting (this is provided during the Mekong Delta stay)
- Keeping arms, legs and feet covered, especially during times when mosquitos are more prevalent
- Visiting your healthcare provider before you travel as they are the best people to advise you about prevention and prescribing any preventative medications.
