Hello,

Thanks for the post.
The boarder crossings are as follows.

Thailand to Cambodia = Aranyaphrathet
Cambodia to Vietnam = Moc Bai

Re: Cambodian Visas

Aranyaphrathet is the Boarder town on the Thai side of the boarder and Poipet is the town on the Cambodian side of the boarder. It commonly known as the Aranyapathet-Poipet Border crossing.

Visa's are the clients responsibility and should you have any drought then simply contact the Embassy and they will be able to answer your questions.

Re: Cambodian Visas

Ed,

Please can you tell me the entry and exit points for the Cambodian Discovery tour? From the dossiers Trat seems to be the exit point on the Thai side, but what is it in Cambodia?

PS Maybe this sort of info that is requried for Visa could be included on the Tour Dossiers?

Thanks,
Paula

Ed

It is not always as easy as you might imagine to get info from an embassy. I phoned the Cambodian embassy in Canberra Australia to find out entry/exit points and was told by the English speaking girl on the telephone that there was noone who could speak English to connect me to and, no, she couldn't ask them the entry/exit points either. So, I agree that it would be good to have that information in the trip dossier.

Re: Cambodian Visas

Hello LoisR,

I agree that to have the boarder crossings featured in the visa section of the country dossier would be helpful as many people seem to request this info well in advance of the tour starting. I have requested this and hopefully it will be amended in the next update.

A good source for up-to-date information would be your foreign office travel website. Here is a link to the British foreign office web page which has information such as the boarder crossings etc.

Re: Cambodian Visas

I am searching for the entry and exit points for Cambodian Discovery tour, too.
The exit-point is Kaoh Kong but what is the entry point?
The transportation on entry and exit is by Bus?

Re: Cambodian Visas

The boarder crossing from Thailand to Cambodia is the Aranyapathet/Poipet Border crossing.

Thailand: Aranyapathet
Cambodia: Poipet

From Cambodia to Thailand it's Kaoh Kong/Hat Lek

You will make the boarder crossing on foot as you will need to have your visa's checked.

Re: Cambodian Visas

Is it necessary to obtain the visa in advance or can I get it on the trip at the border crossing?

Re: Cambodian Visas

Unfortunately Imtrav does not operate a visa service and this something that you need bring up with the embassy. A good starting point is the British Foreign Office web page and a company we recommend called Travcour and here is there web page.

Re: Cambodian Visas

If anyone starts in Hanoi for a tour and wants a cambodian visa, I managed to get one from the cambodian embassy here the same day quite easily.

Re: Cambodian Visas

Hi,
I've travelled this road a couple of times and in particular with the great guys at Imtrav. I now live in Thailand teaching English and need to go to the border every couple of months. At the moment it is possible to get a Cambodian visa on all the land borders and airports.

Of course this could change and you should definitely try to get advice but I'm just letting you know what the current situation is.

Cheers
Don Suz
