Hi, need some advice from people who have been on trips through N-Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam: concerning clothing.
Going on a trip Feb 18 to March 28
I wonder if I need to wear long pants and closed shoes or i can wear bermuda-shorts and short sleeved T-shirts or shirts. Most travel guides say to wear all covered clothing, but on web movies and pics you all see people wearing real summer clothing...
Last year I boughts special clothing (pants & shirts) which have protecting coating against mosquitos for Tanzania and felt silly when all others wearing clothing like holiday in Spain...
I think it's wise to wear covering ckothings when sun goes down, but during the day...
Vietnam isn't really mosquito swap.. specially if we do the classic tour N to S
please advise me
thanks
Marc

Hi Marc,
For the areas of the countries that you are visiting, shorts and t-shirts will be perfectly ok for travelling in. Yes there will be mosquitos present in during your trip, but not to the extent of you having to wear special clothing. During the day, shorts and t-shirts will be fine, but maybe during the evening/night you wear long sleeves and loosely fitted trousers, making sure that exposed skin is covered up.
A good mosquito repellent will work well in the evenings, as will an electrical plug-in which gives off an odour deterring the mosquitos. You can buy these plug-ins prior to the tour, but make sure you take enough tablets to put in the back of the plug-in, otherwise the ones you buy in South East Asia may not be compatible. Alternatively you can purchase the plug-in on arrival in Bangkok either at the airport or in an electrical shop in the city.
Many Thanks
