Re: currency
Hi Beck,
The currency varies from country to country but Thailand has cash points everywhere and plenty of currency exchange bureaus. USD, GBP and Euros are easily changed. Malaysia has the same and Singapore has cash points and currency exchanges about every 100m or so. As far as being out of the big cities, the cash points will be fewer, but most places are geared up for tourists and are happy to exchange currency.
Hope that helps.

Re: currency
Hi there
You will normally incur a fee from your bank for foreign ATM withdrawals - a couple of percent maybe, BUT you can avoid this by going into Nationwide and opening a flex account, putting your money in there, and YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED BY THEM FOR ANY FOREIGN ATM WITHDRAWLS.
Thought this would help you to sace some pennies
Cheers. Lee
Re: currency
Hi Beck,
The currency exchange bureaus in Thailand and Singapore (not sure about Malaysia) do not charge a commission or fee for exchanges. Travellers cheques (American Express certainly) ditto, PROVIDED they are changed at an office of the issuing company. Not sure what the banks in those countries do as I haven't changed travellers cheques at any banks.
I have to confess, we don't bother with travellers cheques anymore unless we are going to be away for months at a time.
Lee's idea sounds like a good one!
Hope this helps a bit more.
