Hi everybody,
Has anybody been to the Indochina Adventure or the SouthEast Asia Combo trips? I would like to learn something more on them. Any tips or information are welcome. When is the best time to go? How are the accomodations? Anything would really help me. Thanks,
Stefania

Re: Indochina Adventure
stefania, i've been doing a lot of research here in virginia for a trip to vietnam, and i've found (as a person who still hasn't been back home to vietnam since 1980) the most information about countries of the southeast is at www.lonelyplanet.com. as for trips, depending on what you want to do, i.e. mild, moderate, adventurous, or hardcore, this site has good deals on guided trips...also check out www.vietnam.com, they have a lot of links. hope this helps you.
truc
btw, where are you from? i like your name!
Re: Indochina Adventure
I did one of Imag Trav trips in South East Asia last year and had an absolute ball. I did the Wilderness Adventure in Thailand which was superb - we got to stay in some really good hotels - nothing too fancy but they were comfortable enough and in good locations. We also spent a couple of days in these awesome raft houses on the edge of a river - probably the most beautiful place I have ever been.
I don't know what the Indochina Adventure involves, but if it is anything like as good as my trip, then GO NOW !
Have a great trip !!!!!!!!!!!!1
Re: Indochina Adventure
Thanks for the tip on the Wilderness Adventure in Thailand. Can you tell me something about health/safety/security there? I am mostly concerned about malaria. Travel guides say that it is a risk in some areas of the country. Did you take malaria pills? How was the general health and safety situation? Thanks a lot.

TrucVN,
I am Italian, but I am currently living in Washington DC. I am planning to go back to Europe this spring and travel to SouthEast Asia this fall. I'd love to visit Vietnam as well. Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi Stefania,
If you would like a real detailed look at the itinerary and types of accommodation used on the Indochina Adventure please take a look at the 'trip dossier' which is available from our downloads page. Below I have pasted the dossier address for you:

With regards to what Honky Tonk said, I have also been on the Wilderness Adventure and can really vouch for the 'Raft Houses'. Stunning!!
As for health and security. You are very well looked after on the Wilderness Adventure tour as with any other tour we operate. The tour leaders will always be 1st aid trained (not that you should ever need to test them) and are knowledgeable of any risks to you in the areas you visit.
The hotels, raft houses, tree houses etc are all very well run and efficient and extremely secure.
Now malaria isn't a huge problem in Thailand. There is of course the odd case of malaria, though mainly in the far North on the borders. I did not take any malaria pills, nor anyone else on the tour, but it is a good idea to take them if you are worried. Please have a chat with your doctor about the latest advice on Malaria in Thailand and take his/her advise. He/she will also be able to advise you on any other precautions worth taking.
The one thing I will say about Thailand is that it is the only exotic country I have been in where I did not suffer any tummy trouble from the food. I ate everything around, from street sellers (the food that is, not the sellers!) to the occasional upmarket restaurant and not a problem. Again, nor anyone else on the tour with me!
You do not need to feel insecure on our tours as you will always be travelling within a group. Even if you come alone, there will always be someone else there to join you on any activities you do from sightseeing to shopping in the markets. This is the advantage of group travel!
Thailand is a wonderfully hospitable place and you will find the local people very welcoming and you should experience absolutely no hostility to threat to your security.
If you have any questions regarding the tour then you may if you wish, write to me direct at the address below.
Cheers
