If you have completed this trip, can you let me know how hard was the road journey between Bangkok and Siem Reap was? The trip dossier tells us it can be arduous and suggests that a flight may be better. I am interested in any comments.

Re: Majestic Angkor (Bangkok to Saigon)
I've done the trip by pick-up jeep and it was great. It's bumpy but not to bad (when I was their in summer 2003) It took us about 3h to get from siem riep to the Thai border. From their on we took a luxurious Thai bus to Bangkok. Re: Majestic Angkor (Bangkok to Saigon)
Hello Richard,
I travelled along this road last March.
The road on the Thailand side is surfaced and is relatively easy going compared to the Cambodian part. The road from the Thailand/Cambodia boarder to Siem Reap for all intents and purposes is not surfaced. This does not essentially mean that the road is all bumps and holes but due to erosion there are plenty to go around. This part of the journey is completed by pickup truck for precisely this reason. The journey can be dusty and tiring as you pass over bridges that you would expect to see in Indiana Jones but this well worth it as the reward at Angkor out weighs all expectations.
