Hi
I did this tour last February and now my sister is planning to do it in April. She has been told that there is an additional charge of $135 on arrival, for tips etc. Could you just confirm this as I am sure I didnt pay that much to the tour leader at the start of my tour. Also, can they still get their Cambodian visa on the border as I did last year.
Thanks for your help.
Sharone

1) The blurb on local payment.
As from January 2005 Local Payments will be introduced on all tours operated by The Imaginative Traveller.
So what is a Local Payment?
Basically it's a portion of the tour cost paid to your group leader at the start of your tour rather than being paid in advance. It's really as simple as that.
How does it help you?
You have more time to pay. We know it can be hard getting your cash together to meet payment deadlines, so by leaving a portion of the trip cost to be paid locally you have several more weeks to save for your travels.
How does it help us?
Operating tours all over the world means that we have to arrange to send money to our overseas offices, suppliers and leaders almost every week. In some countries this is easy, in others it can be a nightmare with much needed funds disappearing into a fathomless void. A local payment means that we can rely upon sufficient cash being given to our group leaders to cover some of the essential trip costs they will face along the way. It saves us a lot of headaches and bank charges. It also saves you money because by keeping our costs down we can pass on these savings to you and keep our tour prices as low as possible.
2) Visas
The official bit. We do not advise on visas and it a good idea to check with the relevant embassy
