Thailand Exit Tax Increased

Hi
Just returned from a marvellous "Vietnam in Style" trip - our first with Imaginative Traveller.

Found out when leaving Thailand on our way home that the exit tax at Bangkok Airport has increaseed since 1 Feb 2007 to Baht 700 (up from Baht 500).

Just thought that you might like to update info on your sites and for info of fellow travellers.

Am probably being thick but does this apply to transfers? I am flying to Vietnam Via Bangkok? I didnt think it did as am only there an hour and a half but thought would check at the risk of looking daft!

Hi Sally,

I don't believe so since you are not technically entering the country whilst transferring and thus if you don't enter you don't exit [Smile]

From long time Imtravver Don Suz now living in Thailand,
Yes the Departure Tax has increased but now it is incorporated into the price of the ticket so no mad scrambling at the last minute to find 700 Thai Baht. All the little booths taking the money have been closed down.
