Hey Imaginative! I spent a lot of time goin round the site for my Thailand trip. Theres a fair few trips to choose from but am pretty sure I have what I want and could do with some input. I have emailed you but you dont seem to be receiving my emails as they come back undelivered.
I just need some simple words to the wise on my itinarary. Heres my email.
Im planning on the South to The Andaman Sea, trip which is 14 days long and ends in Bangkok. The KOH SAMUI extra trip lasting 5 days for 255pounds does not say if I fly to KOH SAMUI or not. Can you advise?

Okay I guess it must. Has anyone been there? Is it overun by Germans as the Lonely Planet guide says? Thorntree users say theres plenty of 'out of the way' beaches to stay on. Okay questions
1. Do Imaginative stay on a secluded beach?
2. Is the flight from Bangkok included?
3. Whats the cost of the flight back to Bangkok? USD will do.
4. Has anyone done this trip? if so whats the experience of the island and the location of the beach huts?
Thanks in advance.

Pete, the flight should cost no more than $80 from a local agent. It IS flooded with Germans but they tend to stick to the 'all inclusive' resorts and only venture out at night. FWYS you'll find the hangouts that are not frequented by the usual tourists.

Re: Thailand trip, need some input

My Husband and I are planning a trip to Egypt in February 2002. Do we need inoculations? Our local BA health doctor said we must have Hepatitis B and Typhoid, but researching this subject online the majority of articles I have found suggest the opposite. We like the tour schedule of the nile valley red sea trip. If you have been on this trip can you tell us, if you are a UK resident, whether or not you needed/were advised to have these shots by your local Dr/health clinic? We would prefer to avoid the expense and unnecessary trouble by finding out what previous travellers on this trip have done.

Cant help you Pete on the Thai trip question but I have one of my own related to the new site. Why when I download a dossier is the format changed to a page the length of a week? I have imaginative dossiers on Morocco and China downloaded. I can read these, save and print them. Now as the site is new they, the dossiers, are all long sheets and a pain to print out. Seven sheets for one tour! I have Adobe 3 installed and it was never a problem until today! Now I cant read the top or the links. Guess I'll be told to download the latest version.

Thanks Jules, $80 does not seem to much. Any idea of the flight time?

WARNING.
Koh Samui is overun by TOURISTS. Avoid the east of the island if you can. If you are into a beach hut holiday with no mod cons contact this agent in Bangkok. BOTANG TRAVEL. They will arrange a beach hut for $5 a night and transport from Bangkok by road to catch the ferry to the Island. $80 is OTT it normally costs $62 to get a one way flight to Koh Samui with Thai Airlines from Bangkok. We took the ferry back via Chang Mai. A brilliant trip.

AndyF:
The trip dossiers have changed and we feel for the better :-). We know many are used to the pervious layout (three columns) however many found them hard to read. Their main complaints were the columns making it confusing to read an itinerary from day to day as the itinerary would read top to bottom, next column top to bottom etc...
So we thought that back to basics was the best option. Now it's a standard letter/print format left to right. Andy give it another read and I hope you will see the benefits.
There is NO reason that you need to download any other version of Adobe to read our dossiers. (But it's always wise to!)
We have not amended the headings and you should be able to read the logo (built onto the formatted pdf file) without any need to upgrade.

Cheers

Re: Thailand trip, need some input

Hi,
The current place we are staying at is on a private little peninsula between two beaches. There is little or no way people can traverse between the two beaches, even at low tide. Therefore we are guaranteed a beautifully secluded resort heavily draped in jungle foliage and a short walk to a quiet and clean little beach.
2. The flight is included in our package for the "Island Hideaway" Both ways!
4. I've stayed at a few places on Koh Samui and have found it a fascinating island that offers everything you could possibly want. There are the busy resort beaches with their bars and loud music, souvenir shops and people from all over the world, OR! there are the jungle walks, waterfalls and secluded beaches. It all takes a bit of investigation on your part to see what suits you. Personally, l love the place, but Thailand is more than just the beaches of the islands in the Gulf of Thailand. We use the Royal Blue Lagoon Resort, you can find them on the web. Take the time, you won't regret it.
Okay questions

2. Is the flight from Bangkok included?
3. Whats the cost of the flight back to Bangkok? USD will do.
4. Has anyone done this trip? if so whats the experience of the island and the location of the beach huts?
Thanks in advance.[/B][/QUOTE]

Yep, you can find all sorts of accommodation on Koh Samui and generally you will hear all about them from the touts at the ferry ports and airport, the most frustrating thing about arriving in Koh Samui. There is plenty of stuff written on Koh Samui so do a bit of research and look at what you want to do. There are plenty of places that cater for families, singles, backpackers and discerning world travellers. But also think about what else Thailand and the region offers.

Dear C.Roach thanks for the reply and details. Can I assume you work for Imaginative as you say WE a lot?
If so, what about question 3?.

Whats the cost of the flight back to Bangkok? USD will do.
TIA
Pete
