Hi there guys.
Thanks to all that answered my question regarding malaria in Cambodia.
One last question (for the time being anyway). Booking myself onto the Cambodian Discovery Tour departing BKK on 16th December, but I am only meeting up with the tour group in Siem Reap as I only arrive in BKK on the 17th when the group will depart for Siem Reap. So catching a direct flight from BKK to Siem Reap to meet up with the group at the hotel that night.
Can anyone please tell me if Imaginative Traveller can also organise an airport transfer to the hotel. If not, can anyone then please give an idea of how easy it is to get to the hotel from the airport?
Thanks again.
Tracey

Re: Transfer from Siem Reap Airport to Hotel
Hi Tracey,
Thanks for your question.
We are not able to provide a transfer from the airport in Siem Reap to the hotel unfortunately but I'm just asking our office in South East Asia how far away the hotel is from the airport, how easy it is to get from the airport to the hotel and what is the best method to use to get there.
As soon as I hear back from them I will let you know. Have a nice weekend![[Smile]](smile.gif)
Re: Transfer from Siem Reap Airport to Hotel
Hi Tracey,
Okay, you can ignore my previous post!
We are in fact able to offer a transfer service in Siem Reap and we'll replace your free transfer in Bangkok with a transfer in Siem Reap for you. You'll just need to let your booking agent know your arrival details into Siem Reap ASAP to arrange this.
I'll also confirm the hotel that your group will be staying in in Siem Reap shortly just so you have the information.
I hope this helps.
Re: Transfer from Siem Reap Airport to Hotel
Brendan,
Thank you so much for all your help. What else will I have to inform my booking agent about in terms of getting the free transfer - that is what I understood from your message.
I'll appreciate the details of the hotel in Siem Reap.
Are you the same Brendan that has assisted me via email in terms of my tour I'll be booking?
(Cambodia Discovery - departing BKK 16th December)
Thanks once again.
Tracey
Re: Transfer from Siem Reap Airport to Hotel
Hi...I did something similar earlier this month when I joined my IMTRAV group in Siem Reap for teh Majestic Angkor trip. I didn't have an official transfer, but it's really easy to get around. I took a motorcycle taxi for $1 since I only had one bag.
**Hope I'm not violating any rules with this next part, but I'd like to give my recommendation for a local driver (should you be interested in one).**
If you want something to do on the day off (I'm assuming that yours will have one like the Majestic Angkor trip did), and you'd like to tour around on the back of a motorbike, I can recommend Thy (pronounced "Tee"), my driver from the airport.
I arrived at the hotel, and since the group had not yet arrived (it was stuck in traffic), I headed out with him for a tour around town.
On our "day off" he and 2 of his buddies took 3 of us out to Kompong Phluc, about 25 km away, helped us arrange a boat ride out to the town, around part of the lake, and back. Later, he took us down to the lake again, to Phnom Krom, up on the hill overlooking the lake.
He's quite reasonable, and you can negotiate a price with him for the whole day. I'd recommend about $10-15. He only works every 3-4 days at the airport taxi stand due to the sheer numbers of drivers, so he good chance he'll be available.
He's safe, reliable, an excellent driver, and is quite knowledgeable about the area. His English is excellent, and he's teaching himself Spanish to fill a needed niche. He arrived punctually on time, and has all the requisite "official" paperwork, so he's a legit guy.
If you'd like his mobile number, surf your way over to our blog where I posted about him. You won't be disappointed. Tell him that David recommended him.
Have fun! You'll absolutely love Cambodia!

Re: Transfer from Siem Reap Airport to Hotel
Hi Tracey (and Dave),
Your agent will let you know the information we require to arrange your airport transfer; it will be the flight number, flight arrival time and date and the departure city (Bangkok). Let your agent know this information as soon as possible.
Dave, thanks for the link to your blog and for the info. It's no problem recommending local services on here (as long as it's not for one of our competitors!).
